Radio Interview from 01/05/14
Classic Woodwind Twist"
Rusty Crowell: Guitar & Vocals
Jan Alba: Flute, Saxophone & Vocals
A husband and wife acoustic duo! Their collaboration began in December 2000 when they were each recruited by a mutual friend to play in a Christmas Eve service. Following the event they agreed to explore how their divergent backgrounds would complement each other. Combined, Rusty’s experience with “music by ear” and Jan’s background as a classically trained flutist, they create a modern and innovative interpretation of many well known songs. They play a diverse assortment of styles including classical, originals, popular, and folk (to name a few). They are available for many venues including: Coffee Houses, Bars, Senior Centers, House Concerts, Weddings & other special events.
"They Bring Folk to Classical,
and Class to Folk"
"Don't be fooled by the easy-going campfire approach Rusty and Jan convey. They are serious, trained musicians that have paid dues in many a music venue. They give you that folk festival feeling, but in addition, they create an atmosphere that makes one believe that one is in a folk world of the past. You almost expect a young Peter, Paul and Mary to be in the wings taking notes."
