"Acoustic Familiarity With a
Classic Woodwind Twist"

Rusty Crowell: Guitar & Vocals
Jan Alba: Flute, Saxophone & Vocals

A husband and wife acoustic duo!  Their collaboration began in December 2000 when they were each recruited by a mutual friend to play in a Christmas Eve service. Following the event they agreed to explore how their divergent backgrounds would complement each other. Combined, Rusty’s experience with “music by ear” and Jan’s background as a classically trained flutist, they create a modern and innovative interpretation of many well known songs. They play a diverse assortment of styles including classical, originals, popular, and folk (to name a few). They are available for many venues including: Coffee Houses, Bars, Nursing Homes, House Concerts, Weddings & other special events.

"They Bring Folk to Classical,
and Class to Folk"
Rusty and Jan are members of the Pennsport String Band. They are proud supporters of Barrington the Philadelphia Folksong Society, the Philadelphia Area Songwriters Alliance (PASA), and several other Philadelphia area organizations

"Don't be fooled by the easy-going campfire approach Rusty and Jan convey. They are serious, trained musicians that have paid dues in many a music venue. They give you that folk festival feeling, but in addition, they create an atmosphere that makes one believe that one is in a folk world of the past. You almost expect a young Peter, Paul and Mary to be in the wings taking notes."
